Manajemen Fisioterapi dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Tidur pada Lansia Penderita Diabetes Mellitus : Studi Kasus
Physiotherapy Management in Improving Sleep Quality in the Elderly with Diabetes Mellitus : A Case Study
Abstract
Kondisi diabetes mellitus sebagai bentuk respon dari kegagalan pankreas dalam memproduksi insulin yang dapat menyebabkan berbagai kerusakan pada organ tubuh. Penderita diabetes mellitus sering mengalami gejala klinis berupa rasa haus atau dehidrasi, polyuria, penglihatan kabur, dan menurunnya berat badan. Selain terjadinya komplikasi penyakit, gejala klinis yang dialami oleh penderita diabetes mellitus tersebut dapat menyebabkan timbulnya rasa ketidaknyamanan yang dapat mengganggu kuantitas dan kualitas tidur. Membantu penderita diabetes mellitus untuk meningkatkan kualitas tidur dengan memberikan terapi latihan berupa relaksasi otot progresif yang dapat dilakukan secara mandiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dengan responden yang terlibat dalam studi ini berjumlah 1 orang. Relaksasi otot progresif diberikan kurang lebih 20 menit setiap pagi hari selama 5 hari berturut-turut. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan oleh peneliti dengan menggunakan Richards Campbell Sleep Questionare (RCSQ). Hasil pemberian intervensi relaksasi otot progresif setiap treatmentnya menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang cukup signifikan. Pemberian intervensi relaksasi otot progresif dapat meningkatkan nilai kualitas tidur pada penderita diabetes mellitus.
